Fonterra and FarmIQ have joined forces to unlock more value from farm data - with daily milk insights now flowing directly into FarmIQ and Farmax, and streamlined data sharing with MADCAP processors to reduce admin and support smarter decision making. This integration also works both ways: while Fonterra data feeds into FarmIQ, key farm activity data like fertiliser records, cropping records, and feed inputs are shared back to Fonterra for the Farm Dairy Records.
This new integration gives farmers a clearer view of their data, better benchmarking, easier compliance and fewer double entries - all from the systems they already use.
A Two-Way Flow of Data
Through this partnership, farmers can now receive key milk quality and production data from Fonterra directly into FarmIQ, including volume, protein, fat, somatic cell count, temperature, and urea - giving them a clearer picture of performance without the manual entry.
All data is accessible through the FarmIQ’s dashboard and diary, so farmers can monitor their milk performance alongside pasture, feed, and animal records - all in one place.
FarmIQ also sends data back to Fonterra for the Farm Dairy Records, including fertiliser use, cropping records, feed inputs, and mapping data such as land area.
This two-way data flow helps keep records accurate, consistent and up to date - without doubling the workload.
More Value Across your Systems
The benefits of this integration go beyond FarmIQ. By opting in, farmers can also use their milk data in FARMAX for more accurate modelling and benchmarking, while simplifying reporting to MADCAP processors thanks to seamless, connected data flows.
“Sharing data with our industry partners is a significant milestone for Fonterra farmers, fulfilling a long-standing request for seamless data sharing” says Tui Williams, Fonterra.
“This reduces double data entry, empowers data-driven decisions, and enables tools like FARMAX to support future planning. It’s a great example of how collaboration in agri-tech delivers real value for farmers.”
“For a long time, FarmIQ has been flying the flag for better sharing of farmers’ data. It’s the farmers’ data, and they should be able to use it however they wish,” says Russell Mackay, Sales & Marketing Manager at FarmIQ.
“Recording the same thing in multiple places really grinds farmers’ gears. The integration between FarmIQ+FARMAX, and Fonterra is a big step forward for the dairy industry. With milk data flowing from Fonterra into FarmIQ and FARMAX, farmers have everything in front of them to make better, faster management decisions. And now that events recorded in FarmIQ link to Fonterra’s Farm Dairy Records, there’s less double or triple entry - saving time and bringing peace of mind come audit time.”
Farmers Own their Information
Farmers generate the data, so farmers should have control it. That’s the principle behind this integration. Fonterra and FarmIQ are committed to transparency and giving farmers the freedom to choose how their data is used.
By making it easier to connect systems, this partnership helps farmers unlock more value from their own information - without handing over control.

“We record all farm inputs and activities through FarmIQ, so the integration with Fonterra is going to save me a lot of time,” says Hamish Putt, a long-time FarmIQ user.
“The integrations are a big tick. Recording the same thing two or three times was frustrating before we had FarmIQ.”
